We have celebrated the above auspicious occasion since
the inception of our Association by hosting entertainment programme which have
included live items on stage or musical groups, refreshment and raffle draw. It
is always well attended and is appreciated by our guests and members alike.
This year we celebrated Diwali and a Hindu New Year (2067) on Sunday, 7th
November 2010 at Moseley Park School, Holland Road, Bilston from 3-00pm to
9-30pm the preparation started in earnest weeks ahead. Decorating the stage and
its frontage was expertly done by our Committee members and volunteers.
Our Chief Guest on the day was Bishop of Wolverhampton, Rt. Revd. Clive Gregory
who was greeted by us with a traditional ‘Hindu Welcome’. He addressed the
guests and members on the subject of ‘Importance of Religion in our life’ which
was very well received by all. The occasion was also graced by the presence of
Lord and Lady Turner of Bilston and our MP, Pat McFadden, other local
dignitaries and representatives from like minded organizations from
Wolverhampton, Walsall, Dudley and Darlaston.
The entertainment programme
consisted of Aarti, staged items as performed by our young/older members, groups
from Wolverhampton and Walsall and speeches from key note speakers. In total 72
participants took part in the programme which was by far the largest number
since our establishment. Each and every items were loudly applauded by the
audiences. The MC this year was our promising young member called, Bhagyshri who
not only performed a superb dance but we think, conducted the proceeding well.
All the participants were awarded a trophy by respective invited guests.
Refreshment was donated by one of our leading members and was served at the
beginning of the programme. Nearly 250 people attended the event.
